The temptation to sit back in soft snow is hard to resist but sitting back can make things more difficult.
In this demonstration the snow is old and a firm base easily supports a centered position. Also, shifting weight to the heel makes it even more difficult for the skis to get any purchase on the soft snow up front.
Treat conditions like this as soft groomed — stand in the center, jack up the speed and enjoy the quiet ride.
