Arms Wide for Balance
By Martin Olson

An important goal for advanced skiers is to reduce upper body movement so that balance is improved. One of the easiest ways to do that is to take a hint from the high wire act. Hold arms and hands well away from the body. A wide hand position not only improves balance but it also slows down rotational energy, just the thing for a quiet upper body. A good position is the same as holding a hula hoop in your hands. You’ll be amazed at how quickly this improves stability in any conditions.
