Peak Performance Ski Tip 7

Balance Theme - by Martin Olson

Good skiers can direct their own improvement by setting themes to play with as they ski. Experts are masters of maintaining balance regardless of the situation and it’s a perfect place to start, especially in early-season skiing. Key points:

  1. Hold hands forward and away from the body. Think of relaxing upper body and shoulders.
  2. Don’t focus on terrain near the ski tips, look down the slope at least two turns.
  3. Develop awareness of foot-feeling so you can avoid levering forward and back on the boot cuffs. Ski with the soles of your feet.
  4. Don’t avoid bumpy or gnarly terrain, it’s the perfect place to challenge your balance and take your game up a notch.
